HC Deb 21 April 1910 vol 16 cc2305-6
Mr. HACKETT

asked whether the right hon. Gentleman can state the denominations and areas of the untenanted lands in the Parliamentary Division of Mid-Tipperary which could be used, if acquired by the Estates Commissioners, for the enlargement of the uneconomic holdings in the division; and whether he can state the areas and denominations of such lands in reference to which the Estates Commissioners are in negotiations for their purchase and distribution?

Mr. BIRRELL

The records of the Estates Commissioners are not kept by Parliamentary Divisions. As regards the first part of the question I would refer the hon. Member to the Return of Untenanted Lands presented to Parliament in 1906 (No. 250 of that year). The Estates Commissioners have made offers for estates comprising 2,460 acres of untenanted land in county Tipperary. They have already acquired 9,720 acres of such land in the county. It would not be in the public interest to give details of the cases in which negotiations are pending.
