§ Mr. MOLLOYasked the Chief Secretary if he can state how many evicted tenants in county Carlow have been notified to the Estates Commissioners; how many have been restored to their holdings since 1903; how many of these tenants have received grants to assist them in stocking their farms and in providing the necessary buildings; how many were refused such assistance; and the grounds for the refusal?
§ Mr. BIRRELLOne hundred and fifty-four applications for reinstatement from evicted tenants or representatives of 2294 evicted tenants in county Carlow have been received by the Estates Commissioners. Eighty-four applications have, after inquiry, been refused on one or other of the grounds mentioned in the Special Report of the Commissioners on Evicted Tenants, which was presented to Parliament in 1907. Twenty-six applicants have been reinstated or provided with new holdings, and nine have been noted for consideration in the allotment of un-tenanted land. The remaining thirty-five applications were received after the date mentioned in the Evicted Tenants Act, and cannot be dealt with under it. Detailed particulars of the cases of evicted tenants reinstated and of the grants made to them appear in the Quarterly Returns presented to Parliament in pursuance of Section 3 of the Evicted Tenants Act, 1907.
§ Mr. KILBRIDEMay I ask whether it is a fact that Gerald Dillon, an evicted tenant under the Plan of Campaign, has been refused a grant for the farm he got from the Estates Commissioners in county Carlow?
