HC Deb 21 April 1910 vol 16 c2330
Mr. A. J. BALFOUR

I think we understand the general course of the business which the Government propose to take before we separate for the holidays; but perhaps the Prime Minister will confirm the general impression, and tell us, if he can, when the House will reassemble? Perhaps I might also ask him when we may expect to have a print of the Veto Bill, which was read the first time last week?

The PRIME MINISTER

On Monday next we will take the Second Reading of the Finance Bill.

On Tuesday, we take the Committee and Report stages of that Bill.

On Wednesday, we will take the Third Reading of the Finance Bill.

On Thursday, there will be a Motion for Adjournment of the House over the Spring Recess.

On Friday, there will be a formal sitting of the House prior to the adjournment, which will be till 26th May.

A copy of the Veto Bill will be in the hands of Members next week.

Mr. BALFOUR

Would it be premature to ask what business it is proposed to take on the Thursday on which we reassemble?

The PRIME MINISTER

I would not like absolutely to pledge myself, but some form of Supply. Possibly getting Mr. Speaker out of the Chair on the Civil Service Estimates. It will be nothing of a contentious character.

Mr. CLOUGH

At what hour will the House be asked to assemble on Thursday next? Will it be twelve o'clock?

The PRIME MINISTER

I will consider that.
