HC Deb 12 April 1910 vol 16 cc1073-4
Mr. LANE-FOX

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the deficit in the whisky money and the consequent loss to the education authorities, he can hold out any hopes to them of any alternative Grant in the future which will save them from any immediate curtailment of their activity?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Lloyd-George)

I must refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave on the 21st ultimo to the hon. Member for Fulham.

Mr. LANE-FOX

Seeing that the previous answer of the right hon. Gentleman to this question was sympathetic generally, cannot he give us something in the nature of a guarantee that the education authorities will not suffer and have to curtail their expenditure?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

I cannot at the present moment go beyond what I have said.
