HC Deb 12 April 1910 vol 16 cc1048-9
Mr. JOHN WARD

asked the Secretary for War if he can state how many district and general courts martial were held during 1908 and 1909 separately; how many soldiers were tried by such courts each year; what was the number of acquittals and convictions; and what were the terms of imprisonment inflicted?

Mr. HALDANE

All the available information on these points will be found in Part VI. of Section II. of the General Annual Report for the year ending 30th September, 1909. (Cd. 5016).

Mr. JOHN WARD

Why does the right hon. Gentleman object to answer this question so as to give the summarised figures in the way he did two years ago?

Mr. HALDANE

It is rather a long business, and not very interesting, and now that I have given the hon. Member the reference to the statement I do not think it is necessary to read it.
