HC Deb 11 April 1910 vol 16 c870
Mr. KETTLE

asked what steps had, so far, been taken to put the Trade Boards Act into operation in Ireland?

Mr. TENNANT

Detailed inquiries have been made both amongst employers and workers in Ireland, and meetings have been held at which the Act has been explained. Regulations for the establishment of Trade Boards in Ireland for certain branches of the tailoring trade and for the paper-box trade are now under consideration.

Mr. KETTLE

When is anything practical likely to be done?

Mr. TENNANT

In the course of a very few weeks, I hope.

Mr. BARNES

Is shirtmaking within the scope of the inquiries?

Mr. TENNANT

No; we have confined our inquiries to the scheduled trades.
