HC Deb 11 April 1910 vol 16 c876
Mr. BEALE

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture if his attention has been called to the outbreak of a disease believed to be a special form of anthrax at the farm of Dalleagles, in the parish of New Cumnock, Ayrshire; and whether inquiries have been made as to the nature of the disease and the remedies therefor, and the proper precautions to prevent the spreading thereof, or whether he will cause inquiries to be made on these subjects and publish the information obtained?

Sir EDWARD STRACHEY

Our veterinary officers are satisfied that the disease to which my hon. Friend refers is malignant catarrh, and not anthrax. It is not a disease which spreads from farm to farm, and is well known to qualified veterinary practitioners.
