HC Deb 11 April 1910 vol 16 c888
Captain COOPER

asked whether any record is kept at the Irish Office of resolutions received from public bodies and referring to questions of public interest; and whether such resolutions are invariably brought to his notice?

Mr. BIRRELL

A record is kept at the Chief Secretary's office, Dublin Castle, of resolutions received from public bodies on matters of public interest, and such resolutions are brought to my notice. I have had the record examined as regards resolutions received on the subject of the Budget proposals of 1909, and find that resolutions against those proposals were received from two County Councils, four District Councils, one Corporation, four Boards of Guardians, and three Chambers of Commerce. Eight resolutions against and two in favour of the Budget were also received from bodies which cannot be correctly described as representative.
