HC Deb 11 April 1910 vol 16 cc868-9
Sir JOHN DEWAR

asked the Postmaster-General if he was aware that the arrangement whereby the mail train leaving Inverness at 9.50 a.m. did not stop at Beauly during the months of July, August, and September, 1909, caused inconvenience to the inhabitants of Beauly and district, and greatly impaired the postal service in the district, the letters for Muir-of-Ord, Redcastle, Muirlocay, Avoca, and Fort-rose in the one direction, and Strathconon in the other, often being twenty-four hours later than when the train stopped; whether arrangements could be made to obviate this difficulty; and if, before sanctioning such a proposal for this year, he would ask a surveyor to meet a committee of the inhabitants of the district?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

I am in communication with the Highland Railway Company, with the view of arranging, if possible, for the maintenance of the stop of the down night mail train at Beauly during the coining summer season, and I will inform the hon. Member of the result.
