asked the President of the Board of Trade if his attention had been called to the necessity of bringing shirt-making and shirt-finishing in Scotland under the Trades Boards Act; and whether he would take the necessary steps to bring this about?

Representations have been made to me on the subject, but I do not think it would be wise to extend the scope of the Trades Boards Act until some experience has been gained of the working of the Act in the trades already scheduled.
