HC Deb 05 April 1910 vol 16 cc198-9
Mr. WINFREY

asked whether the attention of the Board of Agriculture has been drawn to the case of fifty applicants for allotments in Swanage who applied to the urban council considerably more than two years ago, the urban council replying as late as 14th February, saying that the council considered the present time was not suitable for dealing with the subject; and whether the Board of Agriculture will make inquiry into the case and take such steps as may be necessary to secure land for allotments-at Swanage?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Sir Edward Strachey)

The Board are well aware of the circumstances of this case, and have urged the urban district council to exercise their statutory powers to acquire the necessary land. If the council do not take action accordingly without delay the Board will intervene and take such steps as may be necessary to satisfy approved applicants.
