HC Deb 04 April 1910 vol 16 cc12-3
Mr. JOYCE

asked the Postmaster-General whether he was aware that five qualified unestablished male officers with from four to seven years' service are awaiting appointment at Limerick; whether provision would be made for them and their appointments antedated in the forthcoming revision of the Limerick office; and would he state whether it was the Department's intention to retain local officers beyond the pensionable limit, in view of these exceptional circumstances and the lack of promotion locally?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

As it will probably be possible to appoint all the five learners in question under the impending revision at Limerick, there is no occasion to consider special and exceptional means of securing their appointment. Nor would such measures be necessary, seeing that each of the learners has been offered and refused appointment at other offices.
