§ Mr. COURTHOPEasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether it is proposed that no further grants from the Treasury should be made for the purposes set out in Parliamentary Paper No. 278 of 14th September, 1909, but that provision should be made for these purposes out of the Development Fund; and, if so, whether additional sums will be placed in the hands of the Development Commissioners in respect of such purposes?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEIt is not proposed to repeal the statutes enumerated in the Paper in question. Applications for grants which come within the scope of the Development Bill will be referred to the Development Commissioners for report as to their suitability for advances from the Development Fund, but it is not possible to state at present what amount of money can be allocated for these purposes.
