HC Deb 28 September 1909 vol 11 cc1230-1

Motion made and Question proposed, "That the Bill be read a second time."—[Mr. Joseph pease.]

Mr. CLAUDE HAY

Will the hon. Gentleman in charge give us some explanation of the Bill. It has been sprung upon us.

Mr. JEREMIAH MacVEAGH

It is a very simple little Bill, empowering local authorities in Ireland to levy a rate, not exceeding 1d. in the £, for the purpose of advertising health resorts situated within the area of their jurisdiction. It is purely optional, and is supported by Irish Members of all parties.

Resolved, "That the Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House."—[Mr. Joseph Pease.]

Whereupon Mr. SPEAKER, in pursuance of the Order of the House of 20th August, adjourned the House without Question put.

Adjourned at Ten minutes before One o'clock a.m., Wednesday, 29th September.
