Member for South Somerset how many public inquiries under the Small Holdings Act with a view to the compulsory acquisition of land have been held since the Act came into operation; and in how many cases have the Commissioners, as the result of such inquiries, declined to confirm a compulsory order made by a county council?

Forty-seven such inquiries have been held. In five cases the Board have refused to confirm the orders submitted, and twelve of the orders are still under consideration.
