HC Deb 06 September 1909 vol 10 c887
Mr. BARNES

asked the Lord Advocate if his attention had been drawn to the census of the unemployed recently taken in the City of Glasgow, which showed that there were 21,000 men and women compulsorily idle, and that these had 25,000 dependents; and, if so, did he intend taking action in relation thereto?

Mr. URE

I am aware of the result of the census of unemployed recently taken in the city of Glasgow, and a communication from the Distress Committee in relation thereto is presently under the consideration of the Local Government Board for Scotland.
