§ Lord BALCARRESMay I ask the Prime Minister whether he has any statement to make as to the course of business?
§ The PRIME MINISTEROn Monday next we propose to take the Lords' Amendments to the Housing and Town Planning Bill, the Lords' Amendments to the House Letting (Scotland) Bill, and the Second Reading—I understand it will not be seriously contested—of the Assurance Companies Bill.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we propose to devote to the Third Reading and final stage of the Finance Bill; and we hope on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, after the Debate on the Finance Bill has been concluded, to secure the Committee and Third Reading stages of the Assurance Companies Bill, which I believe may now be regarded as a non-controversial measure.
On Friday, 5th November, we shall take the Lords' Amendments to the Irish Land Bill, preceded by a Motion to enable the Amendments to be put as a whole from the Chair. A formal Motion will be made at the commencement of the sitting on Friday, 5th November, to adjourn the House until Tuesday, 23rd November.
§ Mr. MOONEYMay I ask whether the right hon. Gentleman has not received information that there will possibly be a very long discussion on the Assurance Companies Bill, and whether, if time be not available on Wednesday evening, the House will not be asked to sit up and discuss the Bill after 11 or 12 o'clock?
§ The PRIME MINISTERMy information is in the contrary sense; but, if it turns out that the Bill is seriously contested, we shall have to reconsider the matter.
§ Mr. KEIR HARDIEMay I ask if any date has been fixed for taking the Lords Amendments to the Development Bill?
§ The PRIME MINISTERWhen the House reassembles after the adjournment.
§ Mr. STEWART BOWLESMay I ask whether there will be any opportunity of a discussion with reference to the Public Accounts Committee?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI am afraid we shall not be able to find time for that.
