§ Mr. P. SNOWDENasked the Prime Minister when the promised Bill for the Amendment of the Old Age Pensions Act will be introduced; and if it is the intention of the Government to redeem the promise made by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 9th July, 1908, that the Poor Law disqualification would be removed this year?
§ The PRIME MINISTERIt is not proposed to introduce this Session a Bill to amend the Old Age Pensions Act of last year. My right hon. Friend explained in the course of his Budget statement on 29th April last that, though he was afraid he would not be able to deal with the Poor Law disqualification this year, he had borne the matter in mind in framing his proposals, and hoped next year to be able to make the necessary provision.
