§ The UNDER-SECRETARY for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Masterman)As the hon. Member was informed on the 4th instant, the opposing petitions have been forwarded to the Jersey States for observations. Some time must elapse before the Committee of the Privy Council for the Affairs of Jersey and Guernsey is furnished with all the information necessary for their consideration of the matter, and for the present no decision can be reached as to the course which will be followed in the case.
