§ Mr. MOOREasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state the estimated return from Irish licence holders under the Schedule in the Finance Bill and the amount by which that return will be diminished by the promised concession to the Irish licence holders?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEMy right hon. Friend has already promised, in reply to a question by the hon. Member for Worcester on the 4th instant, to place revised estimates of the yield of the proposed new taxes before the House, if possible, prior to the commencement of the Report stage of the Finance Bill, and perhaps the hon. Member will be good enough to defer his question until that estimate is in the hands of Members.
§ Mr. MOOREAre we to understand that the concession has been made without the Government knowing the money value of it?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSENot at all. The learned Gentleman has asked for an estimate, and I think that, in courtesy to him, any estimate made by us should first be referred to the right hon. Gentleman.
§ Mr. JOHN DILLONWill the right hon. Gentleman promise to include in the revised estimate the product of all the new taxes, and the increase of taxation in Ireland separately from England?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSENo. All my right hon. Friend promised to give was a revise of the Paper which was laid on the Table in connection with the Finance Bill which shows the yield of the taxation.
§ Mr. JOHN DILLONI would ask the right hon. Gentleman to consider whether he can give us a revise of an answer that was given in this House showing the yield of the proposed new taxation in Ireland?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEI will consider that point.
