HC Deb 05 October 1909 vol 11 c1833
Mr. ASHLEY

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he can now state whether it has been decided to pay the travelling expenses of officers' wives when the base of a fleet is shifted?

Mr. McKENNA

It is not the intention of the Admiralty to pay the travelling expenses in the circumstances stated.

Mr. ASHLEY

Could the right hon. Gentleman see his way to do the same for the wives of officers in the Navy as the War Office do for the wives of officers in the Army?

Mr. McKENNA

No, Sir; I can only repeat the answer I gave to the hon. Gentleman.
