Mr. CHARLES MacVEIGH (for Mr. O' Doherty)asked the Vice-Presi- 362 dent of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland), whether he is aware of the havoc done by steam trawling along the coast of North Donegal; whether any steps will be taken to prevent the same; and what, if any, is the result of the recent inquiry held into the matter?
§ Mr. CHERRYThe Department will take all steps possible, having regard to the means at their disposal, to prevent illegal trawling off the Donegal Coast. Certain bye-laws which they submitted, prohibiting steam trawling off that coast, received the approval of the Lord Lieutenant in Council a few days ago, and steps are being taken in accordance with the law to give notice of the fact that the bye-laws are now in force.
