Mr. CATHCART WASONasked the Secretary of State, for Foreign Affairs if he will inquire from the Powers, signatories to the North Sea Convention, what fishing grounds they would desire to see closed from the operation of trawlers, with the object of preventing the destruction of immature fish and protecting the legitimate interests of the line fishermen?
§ Mr. McKINNON WOODI have nothing to add to the answer I returned to the question of the hon. Member for Ross and Cromarty on the 4th instant. The question is one of general policy, on which His Majesty's Government are not at present prepared to make any further statement.
Mr. C. WASONIn view of the fact that it is only to ask for information from those foreign Powers, and not to commit them to 190 anything, will he give the matter further consideration?
§ Mr. McKINNON WOODI am afraid I cannot add anything to the answer.
