HC Deb 03 November 1909 vol 12 c1813
Mr. DELANY

asked the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) whether he has considered the recent publications in regard to the veterinary branch of his Department, from which it appears, amongst other things, that the preponderance of Protestants appointed to the professional staff of that branch alone represents practically 150 per cent., the proportion being 37 Protestants to 14 Catholics; whether he can say how many of these have been appointed since he took office; and whether he is aware that even in the most recent appointments the same preponderance of Protestants is apparent?

Mr. CHERRY

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my right hon. Friend to a similar question asked by the hon. Member for South Down on 30th September last. I understand that eight professional appointments have been made in connection with the Department's Veterinary Branch since May, 1907.
