HC Deb 02 November 1909 vol 12 cc1641-2
Mr. FELL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he can now supply any particulars of the alleged indiscriminate destruction of elephants and other large game, and the perpetration of waste, in the British territory known as the Lado Enclave; and if that territory has been governed or administered in accordance with the terms of the lease of it to the King of the Belgians since the garrison was withdrawn about 18 months ago?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir Edward Grey)

I have no information which will enable me to supply the particulars asked for in the first part of the question. As regards the second part, so far as I am aware, the Lado Enclave is still garrisoned by Congolese troops.

Mr. FELL

Have we any representative at Lado Enclave to look after the interests of this country?

Sir E. GREY

Will the hon. Gentleman give me notice?
