HC Deb 18 May 1909 vol 5 cc211-2
Captain Clive

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer: —

  1. (1)Whether a farmer who sells cider made by himself partly from bought fruit will have to take out both the proposed manufacturers' licence of £5 5s. and the wholesale dealers' licence of £5 5s.; and whether he can see his way to answer this question at once, so as to relieve the anxiety of farmers as to whether they will be able to continue to carry on this trade?
  2. (2)Whether the proposed wholesale licence will cover retail sales, or be in addition to the present retail licence of £1 5s.?
  3. (3)Whether in future a wine retailer's on-licence will cover the sale of cider; or whether a separate licence must be taken out for each liquor sold?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

With reference to this and the two subsequent questions, I am afraid I must request the hon. Member to wait for the text of the Finance Bill, which, as he knows, will now shortly be issued to the House.
