HC Deb 10 May 1909 vol 4 c1432
Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that a large amount of petrol is used in the chemical and other trades, entirely apart from its use in motor cars; and whether he can see his way to give a complete rebate on the petrol so used in commerce?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

If the hon. Member will refer to the report of my speech in the House on the 29th ultimo he will find that I then stated that there will be a rebate of the whole duty on petrol used for all purposes other than the propulsion of motor cars.
