HC Deb 10 May 1909 vol 4 cc1444-5
Mr. LANE-FOX

asked whether the attention of the Board of Agriculture had been drawn to the decision in the case of Needham and Company v. the Worcesterchire County Council; and whether they proposed to take any steps to secure the greater efficiency of the Fertilisers and Feeding Stuffs Act?

The TREASURER of the HOUSEHOLD (Sir E. Strachey)

Our attention has been called to the decision to which the hon. Member refers, but for reasons which I shall be glad to explain to him personally we do not think that it is likely to affect the working of the Act generally. If it does we shall of course take further steps In the matter.

Mr. LANE-FOX

Has it been held that limited companies are not liable for prosecution under the Fertilisers Act, or has this been pleaded in their defence?

Sr E. STRACHEY

I must ask the hon. Member to give me notice of that question.
