HC Deb 04 May 1909 vol 4 c877
Mr. REES

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether any information has reached the India Office regarding the outbreak in Coimbatore gaol in connection with which the convicted agitator Chidambaram Pillai petitioned the Government of Madras for protection against native warders and native subordinates and for an increase of European supervision, to the end that patriots might be protected from their fellow-countrymen?

Mr. HOBHOUSE (in the absence of Mr. Buchanan)

The Secretary of State has received no official information on the subject, and has not made any inquiry.
