HC Deb 03 May 1909 vol 4 c726
Mr. BOTTOMLEY

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has made any recent direct inquiry from bankers of the United Kingdom as to the amount of dormant balances and the value of unclaimed securities in their hands?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

No, Sir.

Mr. BOTTOMLEY

Arising out of the last answer, may I ask whether the right hon. Gentleman adheres to his previously expresed opinion that about £500,000 would represent the accumulated balances and securities?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

I cannot recall the exact figures. I gave the House the information at the time.
