HC Deb 03 May 1909 vol 4 c729
Mr. STANLEY WILSON

asked the Prime Minister if Bills other than the Finance Bill will be required to embody the Budget proposals?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

My right hon. Friend has asked me to reply to this question. We propose to introduce a separate measure in connection with the proposals in regard to Development which I laid before the House on Thursday.

Mr. STANLEY WILSON

That will be the only one?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

Yes.

Mr. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAIN

In connection with the Budget, is there not a separate measure in regard to the road legislation and the taxes on motor-cars and petrol?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

No; the taxes in connection with the question will be included in the measure.

Mr. JAMES HOPE

Will the proposals for valuation form part of the measure?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

Oh, no; that is a very essential part of the Finance Bill.

Sir G. PARKER

Will the Bill include experiments in afforestation as suggested for development?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

I think it is very inconvenient to discuss the Bill, but in reply to the hon. Member I should say it would.

Mr. STANLEY WILSON

When is the Bill likely to be introduced?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

I hope soon.

Mr. STANLEY WILSON

Will he give a "Yes" or "No" answer whether it is drawn up?
