§ Mr. GLADSTONEThe amount of parental contributions towards the cost of maintenance of youthful offenders and children in reformatory and industrial schools collected in the city of Liverpool in 1908 was £2,157; and the amount spent in connection with the collection of these contributions was £315. The amount of arrears outstanding against individuals could not be 'stated without a detailed examination of the numerous cases, which would involve the expenditure of considerable time and labour.
