§ Mr. SUMMERBELLasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that the weekly wage of labourers in the Ordnance Department is 19s. only; and whether he will favourably consider the possibility of raising it nearer to a rate sufficient to keep a man and his family in decency?
§ Mr. HALDANEI understand the question to refer to the rate of wages at York, Tynemouth, and adjacent stations. No representations have reached me that the rate is inadequate in view of the local conditions, but I am making inquiry.
