§ Mr. GODFREY BARINGasked the Prime Minister if he can now state when it is proposed to take the second reading of the Houses of Parliament Bill?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI am afraid that I cannot yet name a date for the second reading of this Bill; but, as I informed the House yesterday, I hope to be able to make a statement on Thursday in regard to public business for next week and the week after the recess.
§ Mr. BYLESWill the Prime Minister kindly say whether there is any way, apart from the passing of this Bill, of getting the galleries re-opened? Will he explain why it was so easy to get the public out and so difficult to get them in again?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI am afraid I cannot explain it. I am afraid that the only way of getting the galleries opened is by passing this Bill, and I hoped that it would have been taken by general consent.
