HC Deb 29 March 1909 vol 3 c2
Mr. BOWLES

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will issue a statement of the gross expenditure on the Army for each of the years 1905–6, 1906–7, 1907–8, 1908–9, and 1909–10 (estimated) in the same form as that for the Navy appearing on page 1 of the present Naval Estimates?

The SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Mr. Haldane)

I am issuing a statement with the Votes, in the same form, with the exception of the item "Value of stores drawn from stock without replacement, in aid of cash expenditure." Some stores and clothing remaining surplus after the war were used up in the years referred to, but I am unable to give figures for their actual value. They would not be large enough substantially to affect the comparison.
