§ Mr. LONSDALEasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he will lay upon the Table a précis of any reports made to him by the late Under-Secretary, Lord MacDonnell, relative to the lawlessness in certain districts and the effectiveness of the machinery of the ordinary law in dealing with the same?
§ Mr. BIRRELLDid any such reports exist it would be clearly impossible and contrary to all sound precedent to produce them. As a matter of fact, communications made to me by Lord Macdonnell when Under-Secretary were made verbally in the course of frequent and friendly conversations.
