§ Mr. HART-DAVIESasked the Under-Secretary for India whether, in the case of the alleged murder of her husband by one Gulab Bano, heard on appeal at Lahore in January last, he can state what action was taken by the Government of the Punjaub in regard to the police officers implicated in the charges of outrage and torture of the woman made against them by the judges of the chief court; whether these police were removed from the service of the Government; and whether any criminal proceedings have been taken against them?
The MASTER of ELIBANKThe Secretary of State has as yet no information as to whether any action has been taken in regard to the police officers concerned. As was stated in reply to a question last Tuesday, an inquiry has been held, and the report is being considered by the local government.
