HC Deb 28 June 1909 vol 7 cc6-7
Mr. PHILIP FOSTER

asked the Secretary of State for War why no veterinary officer was provided for the Warwickshire Yeomanry at this year's training?

Mr. HALDANE

Inquiries are being made in regard to this matter.

Mr. PHILIP FOSTER

asked the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been called to the case of a lance-corporal in the Warwickshire Yeomanry, who, on promotion, received in 1909 on balance of pay, less stoppages, £1 18s. less than a private in the same regiment who joined in 1908; and whether he will take steps to see that promotion does not carry with it inferiority in pay?

The HON. MEMBER

further asked the right hon. Gentleman whether his attention has been called to the case of a shoeing smith in the Warwickshire Yeomanry who, on promotion at this year's training, received on balance of pay, less stoppages, £1 5s. less than he would have received had he not been promoted; and whether he will take steps to ensure that promotion shall not carry with it reduction in pay?

Mr. HALDANE

I am making inquiries, and am obliged to the hon. Member for furnishing me with detailed information.
