HC Deb 28 June 1909 vol 7 c24

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, having regard to the expressions of opinion by Ministers in this House that Members of Parliament should be remunerated out of public funds, he will make a beginning in that direction by providing in the Finance Bill at present before the House a sufficient sum to pay the travelling expenses of Members of Parliament to attend to their legislative duties during the sitting of Parliament?

My right hon. Friend does not see his way to fall in with this suggestion.
