HC Deb 03 June 1909 vol 5 c1480
Mr. CLOUGH

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether lie had any official information showing that in Odessa 192 Baptists have been arrested while holding a meeting, and sentenced to terms of imprisonment varying from one week to two months; and, if so, whether he would make such representations to the Russian Government as to procure the release of these prisoners and ensure for them in the future freedom of worship?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir Edward Grey)

I have received no information on the subject, nor have I any reason to suppose that any British subjects are affected, and. if not, there is no ground for action by His Majesty's Government.
