HC Deb 29 July 1909 vol 8 c1334
Mr. PIKE PEASE (on behalf of Captain Faber)

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he could state whether the slave traffic on the Portuguese portion of the African coast has increased since His Majesty's ships were withdrawn from our waters in that region; and whether he has official information to the effect that whole villages are now devastated by the slave traffic?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir Edward Grey)

We have no official information to that effect, but if the hon. and gallant Member will communicate any information he may have on the subject inquiry shall be made.
