HC Deb 29 July 1909 vol 8 c1432

Order for consideration as amended (in the Standing Committee) read.

Question proposed, "That the Bill be re-committed to a Committee of the Whole House, in respect of the Amendment to Clause 4 standing in the name of the right hon. Member for Dundee."—[Mr. Tennant.]

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. H. J. Tennant)

I do not know whether it is necessary to explain to the House that the Bill as it is at present drafted makes it rather doubtful whether travelling expenses can be paid, inasmuch as there are many precedents for having such provisions actually put into the Bill. It is for that reason that we move to re-commit the Bill.

Motion agreed to; Bill considered in Committee.
