HC Deb 29 July 1909 vol 8 cc1354-5
Mr. MIDDLEMORE

asked what sum of money has been spent upon repairs to, and modifications of, the furnaces of the destroyers "Cossack," "Tartar," and "Mohawk," since they were first commissioned; and whether such repairs or modifications were due to the exclusive use of oil fuel?

Mr. McKENNA

The figures are:—

£
"Cossack" 520
"Tartar" 1,010
"Mohawk" 845

As regards the last part of the question, although oil fuel only is used in the boilers of these ships, the repairs and modifications required were due to fair wear.
