HC Deb 29 July 1909 vol 8 c1351
Mr. DILLON

asked the Home Secretary whether he has any reason to believe that Harting, the Russian spy, is at present in London?

Mr. GLADSTONE

No, Sir.

Mr. DILLON

Have the police of this country taken any means to ascertain whether Harting is in London, and have we any security that this police spy may not at the present moment be engaged in organising Terrorist outrages against the Czar on his approaching visit to England?

Mr. GLADSTONE

The police are perfectly competent to discharge their duty, and I am afraid I cannot add anything to the answer I have given.
