§ Mr. REESasked the President of the Local Government Board whether he is aware that two daily diet books cost £2 12s.; and whether he can see his way to reducing the charges levied on guardians of the poor for union books?
§ Mr. BURNSI presume that the book referred to is the Daily Provisions Consumption Account prescribed by the General Order for Accounts issued by the Poor Law Board on the 14th January, 1867. I am not aware of the precise cost of the book as prepared for any particular Board of Guardians. This would be settled between the Guardians and the bookseller. It is not fixed by me, and I do not think I can take any action in the matter.
