HC Deb 14 July 1909 vol 7 c2033
Mr. KEIR HARDIE

asked the Home Secretary whether he had received a petition from the ladies now imprisoned at Holloway in connection with the Women Suffrage movement complaining of the bad ventilation of the cells, and stating that they refuse to obey the prison regulations until they are placed in proper cells and treated as political offenders? Have the visiting magistrates made any report to the right hon. Gentleman, and what action is it proposed to take in the matter?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Gladstone)

I only received the notice ten minutes ago. I know nothing of the matters stated in the question, but I received information yesterday concerning a revolt. Perhaps the hon. Member will put his question on the Paper.
