HC Deb 14 July 1909 vol 7 c2026
Mr. GINNELL

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he will state the number of transfers of title executed by annuitants under the Land Purchase Acts in each of the three last completed financial years, in order to show the rate of increase in those instruments consequent on the progress of land purchase?

Mr. CHERRY

No separate records are kept in the Land Registry of dealings with land by persons paying an annuity. The great majority of registered owners are, however, paying annuities to the State. The records are not kept according to the financial year, but according to the calendar year. For the years 1906, 1907, and 1908 the total dealings with registered land (exclusive of discharges of equities) were respectively 6,336, 7,030, and 8,132, the number of transfers being 2,250, 2,328, and 2,678 respectively.
