HC Deb 14 July 1909 vol 7 c2018
Mr. MIDDLEMORE

asked the right hon. Gentleman whether, in view of the fact that no orders have yet been received for heavy gun mountings by the Coventry Ordnance Works, and that consequently much valuable plant has been idle, he will consider the desirability, in the interests of the Empire, of providing orders for guns, and especially for mountings, which are required for the safety of the country.

Mr. McKENNA

A trial order for gun3 has already been placed with this firm. When the need arises the question of the desirability of placing an order for heavy gun-mountings with the firm will be considered.
