HC Deb 12 July 1909 vol 7 c1643
Mr. LEICESTER HARMSWORTH

asked the Postmaster-General if there are in any of the contracts with railway companies or steamship companies for carrying the mails penalties for late delivery?

Mr. BUXTON

There is no provision in mail contracts with railway companies for penalties for late working, but there are such penalty clauses in a few of the contracts for steamship services.

Mr. MOONEY

Will the right hon. Gentleman give a list of the steamship companies concerned where there are penalty clauses in the contracts"

Mr. BUXTON

I must have notice of that question.
