HC Deb 07 July 1909 vol 7 cc1201-2
Mr. REMNANT

asked the Secretary of State for War how many horses from the Royal Artillery were lent to the West Lancashire Territorials for the review held at Manchester on Monday, 5th July, by His Majesty the King, and from what batteries were they taken?

Mr. WHITLEY

The number was approximately 200, and the horses were drawn from the 49th (Howitzer) Brigade Royal Field Artillery and the 20th Brigade Royal Field Artillery. I will get the exact details for the hon. Member if he desires.

Mr. REMNANT

Is it not, in the opinion of the Secretary for War, a serious matter to allow highly-trained horses to be handled and muddled about by inexperienced and untrained men so as to seriously diminish their efficiency?

Mr. WHITLEY

I think the Secretary for War may be trusted to look after that question.

Mr. REMNANT

I was only asking his opinion; we have neither he nor the Under-Secretary here.
